Every kid deserves a trip to Disneyland

With a total of 17 kids and 16 staff, planning a trip to Disneyland was no small undertaking. With summer quickly coming to a close, our staff was all too aware that many of these kids may never have an opportunity to visit "The happiest place on earth". There was just no letting it go. You see at Youth Homes we deeply desire for our kids to have the same opportunities and experiences all cherished children should have.

The staff soaked in happy comments such as "Thank you for spoiling us", and the gleeful expressions on their faces at Splash Mountain seemed to be worth every bit of hard work. Almost as exciting was the stay in a hotel, a first for most of the kids.

Staff member Margie Darnes observed; "It was fun to see them act like care-free kids once again, exploring every part of the park, and having their photo's taken with Mickey, Goofy and Donald Duck".

The trip wound down with the magic of the fireworks show. The youth were all having so much fun they didn't want to leave. For highly traumatized kids who often have trouble governing their behavior, the trip went off without a hitch. A credit to both the kids and the accompanying staff. Well, we were right about this trip, but most importantly, we knew we did right by our kids.

A special thank you to all whose generous donations made this trip possible. We couldn't do it without your support!
