“Going All in” For Youth Impact
On the first Friday of March, we gathered together with friends and family of Youth Homes, team members, board members, and a few brand new faces for our Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament fundraiser. Hosted by Blue Dog Events at Back Forty Texas BBQ in Pleasant Hill, we had such a fun-filled evening of eating, drinking, friendly competition, and spreading awareness about the impactful work of Youth Homes.
Folks trickled in as a delicious barbeque buffet was being served, and people who sat down at the same table as strangers quickly got to know each other. Parties who came together were split up and randomly seated around the room for the tournament, starting off with 11 tables of 10 people each. As cards flew, everyone got further and further dialed into the game; pros were dropping in the first few rounds, and folks who had never played poker before were advancing to the final rounds. All the while, everyone was learning about how the person next to them was connected to the mission of Youth Homes.
We hope you all know that when you attend our events, your generosity stretches far and wide across our agency. It allows us to maintain safe, welcoming therapeutic environments for our youth, provides a young person with martial arts classes or music lessons, and helps a young adult fix their car so they can make it to and from their job every day. It pays for our incredible staff to continue providing top-notch services our clients, and allows us to reward our youth for all the hard work they do to grow in their healing. Every ticket sold, donation made, and raffle ticket purchased makes a difference.
We want to say an extra special thank you to our partners who helped make this event possible. Your care for this community's youth is so immense, and we are so thankful for your partnership!
