Volunteer Roles

Front of Shop

    • Put newly tagged items on the floor (hardgoods, softgoods and jewelry) 

    • Ensure tops of clothing rounders are clear 

    • Organize hardgoods based on category  

    • Create aesthetically pleasing displays for homegoods and jewelry 

    • Ensure the display tables are organized and keep with a theme 

    • Ensure the clothing racks are sized and color coordinated (rainbow method) 

    • Greet customers and talk with them about our mission 

    • Inform customers of daily sales 

    • Help cashiers bag and wrap items 

    • Ensure dressing rooms are kept clean and assist customers if needed 

    • Ensure that items on the “go backs” rack by the dressing room are put back on the floor 

    • Help open curated cases for customers, stay with them while they look at the item, and take the item to the cashiers if it is being purchased 

Back of Shop

    • Clean items before pricing 

    • Price items (including books, games, crafts etc) 

    • Hang, size and tag clothing items 

    • Sort incoming clothing into category bins 

    • Sort and organize jewelry donations 

    • Put jewelry into price point bags for others to tag 

    • Sort clothing from trailer donations 

    • Review racks with checklists attached to determine what can go to the floor 

    • Keep shelves organized 

    • Pack holiday items and put in storage 

Volunteer Groups

Physical Requirements

Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform their tasks. 

  • Frequently in a stationary and standing position for prolonged periods of time.   

  • Frequently moves about the Thrift Shop (interior and exterior). 

  • Must be able to lift up to 10 or 15 or 20 pounds at a time. 

  • Frequently performs repetitive movements over periods of time.

Note: This position is unpaid and purely voluntary. While there are expectations associated with the role, they are not binding in the same manner as paid employment.
