What is Made Possible Through Generous Corporate Partners

Here at Youth Homes, we are grateful to our generous corporate partners that make our impactful initiatives possible. This month our gratitude goes to Pacific Service Credit Union, who went the extra mile to join hands with us to give underserved youth and their families support they need.

It takes a village to raise a child, and the same can said of nurturing a nonprofit organization that supports at risk-youth living the Bay Area.

Pacific Service Credit Union’s Giving Programs

Corporate giving allows businesses to raise workplace morale while also donating to good causes. Pacific Service Credit Union is a not-for-profit that has integrated the value of giving back into their company mission. In fact, they have established a giving program across their five Bay Area branches in Concord, Pleasant Hill, San Ramon, Livermore, and Fresno.

There’s a reason why Pacific Service Credit Union was recognized by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the top corporate philanthropists in the Bay Area! One initiative that led to this recognition was their community giving budget, which is a system that allows nonprofit organizations to apply for funding through the corporation.

The Union’s board of directors mindfully chooses which causes receive the donations. Impressively, the corporation supports 40 nonprofit organizations in total, including Youth Homes. As long-time supporters of Youth Homes, Pacific Service Credit Union Assistant Vice President Kristin Peterson once stated, “Youth Homes does such wonderful work for those who need support in our community.”

Back to School Giving

For the start of the school year, Pacific Service Credit Union donated $5,000 to Youth Homes to fund back-to-school clothes. In addition, they joined our Youth Homes team at the Store Full of Sole event that was held at the Youth Homes Thrift Shop.

During this event each youth belonging to our program was able to request a brand new pair of shoes in their correct size and preferred style. Being able to select their own shoes and clothing allows each youth to begin the school year with a boost of confidence and individuality.

Shoes can be an expensive luxury, and it was empowering and exciting for all of these young people to be able to pick out exactly what they wanted. By entering the year on a high note, our youth members can focus on what is most important at school: their healing, their education, and their futures.

Ongoing, Thoughtful Support

In addition to donating funds and helping with our Store Full of Sole event, Pacific Service Credit Union donated office supplies and twenty-two gently-used iPads for our youth. They had to move to a new corporate headquarters location, and they thought of Youth Homes when they had extra supplies to donate. This donation helped close the digital divide for under-resourced youth, so that they could stay connected to their educational goals, social networks, and quality entertainment.

During the holiday season, Pacific Service Credit Union routinely holds a Gift Card Drive. The yield from this fundraiser goes to at-risk youth, and it allows each youth to purchase whatever they would like with the gift card given to them.
