New Backpack, New Confidence
From clothing donation drives to gift card collections and birthday gift deliveries, it is always a special occasion when our community is able to support our youth in such a tangible way. Most recently, the amazing team and patients from Baker Family Corrective Spinal Care in Walnut Creek hosted a backpack and school supply drive for our youth heading back to school this month! The wonderful Renee Franco organized, stored, and delivered nearly 150 backpacks and corresponding amount of school supplies over to the Youth Homes main office to be scooped up and packed away for the first day of school by our clients.
Bianka Lieb, our Clinical Director of Community Based Services, organized a fun afternoon of backpack-stuffing, game-playing, and snack-eating at our Antioch office. Our providers were invited to bring clients and enjoy some time together while getting backpacks and supplies for the new school year.
While a backpack and school supplies may appear insignificant to some, they hold the power to make a profound impact, especially for those who have experienced a childhood with limited resources. It's not uncommon to either be the person or know a person who can recall the challenges of such a situation and understand how it can deeply affect a young person's growth and self-perception. These seemingly small supplies, however, have the potential to set the stage for a successful school year, instilling newfound confidence and self-love in the hearts of our youth.
A BIG thank you to our community for coming together to support our youth going back to school and preparing them for the year ahead. We are beyond grateful for your contributions! If you would like to get involved with Youth Homes, please email Danielle John, our Director of Community Impact and Engagement. From volunteer events at our thrift shop, projects at our homes, managing clubs, school activities, or Rotary, Kiwanis, and community clubs, there is always a way to be a part of the magic created by our community at Youth Homes.
